A video footage has shown how Nigerians were prevented from entering a Chinese supermarket in Abuja. The actions have been criticised and condemned by all as people wonder how possible for Nigerians to be prevented from accessing any facility within their own Fatherland. Some eyewitnesses who were victims of such unthinkable attitude from the Chinese authorities managing the supermarket said they had been denied access to the mall by the security working in the supermarket, as according to them, no black is allowed into the premises except their affiliates or their countrymen and women.

On our recent check on the development, we found out that the government has stormed the premises, sealing and hunting down on the perpetrators who have long abandoned their business to avoid arrest. But before I round off, let me tell you what prompted the Chinese supermarket to take that discriminatory path.
Entry into the supermarket, without any name inscription, is restricted exclusively to individuals of Chinese descent.
The supermarket situated at the China General Chamber of Commerce, along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Road in the Federal Capital Territory, is acclaimed as a destination for Chinese cuisine and beverages.
Take a look at what Nigerians who have witnessed this discrimination directly have to say,
”There is a supermarket I saw online that is a Chinese supermarket. They have Chinese food, ramen, and other things. I wanted to go there and check it out but I was denied entry. The security officers at the gate said the supermarket was strictly for Chinese people and no Nigerian was allowed to go inside or buy anything. Is that possible in China?“This supermarket is here in Abuja and a Nigerian cannot enter.
This is a joke. So that means a Chinese guy has more rights than you here in Nigeria. Chinese guys are allowed to visit anywhere in the country. The thing shocked me oo. Now I am going back to our local supermarket because they said I cannot enter.”
Another X user, Otunba AbdulFattah @OyedeleFatai, said ”“Yes! China Chambers of Commerce along airport road. I was denied access twice this year. The security told me that they have stopped Nigerians from entering the premises since January 2024. Nonsense! @NafdacAgency @fccpcnigeria,” he wrote.
FCCPC SEALS THE PREMISES.
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has sealed the Chinese supermarket located within the China General Chamber of Commerce in Abuja.
The FCCPC officials stormed the supermarket today April 22 and interrogated the Nigerian workers at the supermarket. The workers told the FCCPC officials that CCTV footage showed that the owner of the supermarket, a Chinese lady, Cindy Liu Bei, fled the premises with her family at about 8:26 am today.
