Julius Abure the National Chairman of the Labour Party has been told to step down from his position due to the expiration of his tenure rumored to be on the 10th of June. This was part of the communique released by the LP after its meeting in Abia State State, which produced Nenadi Usman as the Chairperson of the Caretaker committee set up by the party.
It said, “tenure of the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party ended by effusion of time on the 10th of June, 2024. There is a need to ensure that there is no vacuum in the NWC of the party.”It mandated the committee “to immediately ensure that the ward, local government, state and National congresses and conventions of the Labour Party are held as soon as possible in accordance with the constitution of the Labour Party”.
The communique, which commended Governor Alex Otti for hosting the meeting, urged all members of the Labour Party to support the caretaker committee to achieve its mandate.
Meanwhile, Abure, who shunned the Umuahia meeting, has dismissed the emergence of the Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee, declaring the stakeholders’ meeting illegal and unconstitutional. READ MORE HERE.
